I can’t believe it’s finally here! I finally get to share the project that’s consumed my last 3 years, my first book -- Purr-fect Patchwork.
If you love cats, quilting, or both, this is the book for you. I photographed the entire book, did about 90% of the illustrations, and made all of the projects. And that’s on top of designing all of the projects and writing all of the patterns. You wouldn’t believe the blood, sweat, and tears I purred into this book.
Purr-fect Patchwork was originally supposed to be released in May 2020, by Lucky Spool Publishing. In February 2020, I received a gut-wrenching call that Susanne Woods, the owner of Lucky Spool, unexpectedly passed away. My book was ultimately cut. I sulked for a few days, and then I put on my big girl pants and started reaching out to other publishers. Less than two weeks later, my book was picked up by C&T publishing.
Working with C&T has been an absolutely amazing experience. With their help, I’ve been able to see my vision come to life. Purr-fect Patchwork is everything I dreamed it could be. Instead of sharing projects with you, I’m going to share the inspiration behind Purr-fect Patchwork -- my kittehs!!!
ZIM ZIM
My not-so-little Grumpy Cat wannabe. She has the most hilarious personality and loves to play -- as long as she’s in the master bedroom or master bathroom. She rarely leaves this part of the house. But when she’s in her comfort zone, she’s an adorably playful, super snuggly ball of floof.
BANDIT
Oh my! Bandit is our oldest kitty. He’s been part of our family for about 5 years. He is extremely dumb. I mean that in the most loving way possible. But he is seriously the dumbest cat. Himbs still a very good boi. He makes a cameo in the book, with the Just Kitten Around Pillow.
MITTENS
My fat lard. He is giant. I swear he’s the product of a mountain lion and a house cat. He weighs like 25 pounds and is sometimes an asshole. He is also super cute, which makes it easier to forgive him for being such an asshole. His name is Mittens because he’s polydactyl (which means he has extra toe beans).
LUCKY
We affectionately call her Baby Kitty. Not because she’s the youngest cat in our family, but because she’s a purr-fect tiny little bébé. She will snuggle me, no matter the time or place. Working on the laptop? No problem. She’ll sit on my chest with her ass in my face. She has no f@*&s to give. Have you ever seen a more gorgeous kitty? I think not.
